How to use it
1. Preparation Cleaning - It is recommended to use LOCTITE® SF 7063/7064 to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying adhesive. If cure speed is too slow due to passive metals (stainless steel, aluminium and plated metals) or low temperature (below 5°C), apply activator LOCTITE® SF 7240 or LOCTITE® SF 7649 (see cure speed vs activator graph in the TDS). 2. Application Apply a 360° bead to the leading male thread, leaving the first thread free. For bigger threads, apply both on male and female threads. For manual dispensing the use of a peristaltic handgun is recommended to ensure a consistent application volume. 3. Assembly Assemble fittings using wrench tightening in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations. 4. Disassembly Disassemble with standard hand tools. If not possible, apply localised heat to approximately 250°C; disassemble while hot. For corroded or seized parts use LOCTITE® LB 8040 Freeze and Release.
Technical and safety documents
When you need a general purpose thread sealant with high temperature- and contamination-tolerance, as well as effectiveness on inactive and active metals, choose LOCTITE® 577. Designed for the locking and sealing of threaded metal pipes and fittings, this product provides an instant, low-pressure seal and won’t creep, shrink or shred. Perfect for use on stainless steel without the need for surface activation, it offers gap performance to 0.25 mm (0.01") and will cure even in the presence of minor surface contamination from cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion and protection fluids, or cleaners containing surfactants and corrosion inhibitors. Meets the performance requirements of KIWA GASTEC QA AR 214 for admixtures up to and including 100% hydrogen gas – certifications are available in select countries.
